Purpose of site
This web site is created to help patients and their loved ones receive a wide range of information and support as they seek to gain a greater understanding of depression and bipolar disorder. Greater understanding is key to empower patients and their families to work with their health care provider(s) to obtain accurate diagnoses and develop effective treatment plans. 

Patient developed, physician reviewed content
All information in our programs and products is developed using the most up-to-date scientifically-based information and is written from the patient perspective -- that is, the patient comes first. All of our materials are reviewed by a member of our Scientific Advisory Board and patients living with depression or bipolar disorder to ensure the highest quality information. Materials are updated regularly to ensure timeliness.

Unbiased Information
DBSA does not endorse or recommend the use of any specific treatment or medication for depression or bipolar disorder. We believe in the importance of patient empowerment, working as equal partners with our health care providers, seeking a treatment plan that is uniquely effective for each person. For advice about specific treatments or medications, individuals should consult their physicians and/or mental health professionals. In the event that an outside entity such as a pharmaceutical company provides funding to the organization to develop a product or program, that  entity given no access to the development of the product/program, no ability to edit or influence its content, and no ability to promote any product or any treatment.

Your Confidentiality is Assured
This web site does not collect any personal information unless the user specifically chooses to enter their name, address, email address or other personal information to receive materials from DBSA. DBSA never sells, rents or shares constituent information with any outside parties.
